Danish food machinery company secures patent protection for breakthrough rotary disc texturizer.
Tommerup, Denmark, October 31 – DANA Technology ApS has been granted US Patent 12419325 B2 for its Rotary Disc Texturizer (RDT), marking a significant milestone for the company’s innovative approach to food processing.
The patent protects DANA’s unique method of transforming protein and carbohydrate materials into textured, meat-like products without high-pressure extrusion. Unlike traditional methods requiring extreme pressure (30+ bar) and temperatures above 150°C, the RDT operates at low pressure using controlled heat (70-120°C) and mechanical action.
The technology works by feeding emulsified food materials between two heated horizontal discs, where a rotating paddle wheel mechanically works and transports the material outward. This creates fibrous, meat-simulating textures suitable for both pet food and human consumption.

Other key advantages include lower energy consumption, easier cleaning, and the ability to process diverse recipes. The system can handle capacities from 500kg to 2,000kg per hour with stacked configurations.
The patent covers the apparatus design, heating configurations, paddle wheel arrangements, and the complete texturizing process.
